In 2 weeks our church is putting on a Kids Camp. This is a pretty huge deal for us because this will be the first time our church has EVER done any children’s ministry. When I started there, there was a 1 year old and a 4 year old and that was it for the kids. They didn’t have a nursery because there was no real need for one. Now we have an overflowing nursery and are getting set to do this camp. It’s so exciting! I’m not claiming that it’s my fantastic preaching that’s drawing the masses, but people are just excited that something is happening.
We aren’t alone in this though, we are very blessed to have Emmanuel Baptist from Crestview partnering with us in this. Their student minister called me a couple months ago and said he’d love to bring his kids here to help us with anything we might need. Our facilities are good so we didn’t need anything like construction or painting, but one thing we had been praying about was doing something for the children of our area. Their children’s minister jumped right in there too and they offered to come put on this camp for us. We don’t have the manpower to do such a thing right now, but they do. They are not only staffing and teaching for us, but they’re also doing all the set up/tear down, bringing all the decorations (and they will go all out!), pretty much everything. We’ll have as many of our people as possible to help with registration and other things, and we’re also feeding their people each evening. On the last night we’re doing a big dinner for the families of the kids and we’re praying that it will be a connecting point between our people and the families of the community.
One thing we’re using to help spread the word is our website, and I’m so proud of it. It’s not flashy by any means, but I think it looks nice, it’s very functional, and it’s very inexpensive to operate which is key for us. We started our publicity yesterday and it’s been fun to watch the hits climb all day on the Statcounter. I must send a big thank you to my good friend Micah Fries, because the website would not have happened without his help and guidance.
My heart is quite full with joy over the many dear friends who have partnered with us in prayer and have shared their time, experience, support, and kindness. Neat things are happening and many people are a part of it. Thank you to all my friends.
